OUR LOCATION
We are located in Hanmer Springs in North Canterbury, South Island, New Zealand. Hanmer Springs is 90 minutes drive northwest of Christchurch.
It is an ideal village for non anglers partners and spouses as it is is famous New Zealand-wide for its thermal pools and romantic hillsides.
The town is perpetually amongst New Zealand’s top rated Holiday destinations. Hanmer Springs has many wonderful restaurants, shops, horse back riding, tramping and mountain bike trails, as well as having a heli base located just south of the village for ease of flying to the back country.
The map to the right shows New Zealand’s south island. Our main guiding area is highlighted in yellow at the NW of the south island.
Within our operating area, but not limited to it, there are literally dozens of waters to fish, from small spring creeks, seasonal streams, small to large rivers, and a variety of lakes.
The opportunities are endless. The other key is that we are situated to be able to quickly move east-west, across the island in times of different weather conditions that impact our waters. Reefton is one of our main fly fishing guiding area on the West Coast.
International travel generally flies to Auckland on the north island, then connects with an hour flight to Christchurch.
Travel from your home country may include direct or connecting flights. Travel from Los Angeles, USA is 12 hours, Vancouver, Canada is 14 hours, from Sydney, Australia 3 1/2 hrs, and Singapore is 11 hrs.
The accommodations available on your trip include lodges/ inns/ hotels/ motels/ bed and breakfasts/ campgrounds/ back country huts/ back country camping. We can provide detailed options to you when we discuss your trip logistics.
We are located an hour from the west coast fishing region as well. It doesn’t matter what magazine or internet site you view, the West Coast of New Zealand’s south island consistently rates as one of the world’s top “most scenic” drives. It is an amazing drive, of persistent vistas from peak to sea.
