Located in Hanmer Springs, North Canterbury, on New Zealand’s South Island, we are ideally positioned in one of the country’s most popular holiday destinations. Hanmer Springs is just a 90-minute drive northwest of Christchurch and offers far more than exceptional fishing opportunities.
For non-angling partners and spouses, Hanmer Springs is renowned throughout New Zealand for its world-famous thermal pools, stunning alpine scenery, and relaxed village atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities, including excellent restaurants, boutique shopping, horse trekking, hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as scenic helicopter flights from the heli-base located just south of the village.
Our primary guiding area is highlighted in yellow on the accompanying South Island map and covers the northwestern region of the island. Within this area lie dozens of outstanding fisheries, including crystal-clear spring creeks, seasonal streams, small and large rivers, and a variety of productive lakes. The diversity of waters available ensures endless fishing opportunities for anglers of all skill levels.
One of the major advantages of our location is our ability to quickly access both the eastern and western regions of the South Island. This flexibility allows us to adapt to changing weather conditions and consistently provide the best possible fishing experience. Reefton and the surrounding rivers are among our premier fly-fishing destinations on the West Coast.
International travellers typically arrive via Auckland before taking a short one-hour domestic flight to Christchurch. Travel times to New Zealand are approximately 12 hours from Los Angeles, 14 hours from Vancouver, 3½ hours from Sydney, and 11 hours from Singapore, making New Zealand more accessible than many anglers expect.
